Sunday “No Church”
That’s right! This morning we are having “No Church.” We are still gathering as a fellowship but we are not having church as we have normally had it in years past. If you want to know what it’s all about, I suggest you head over to our web page and check out Pastor Brian’s latest message, but in the mean time, I will do my best to describe what’s up.
Most every church in these days talks about being an “Acts 2 Church” and when they say that they are referring to their church as being the model that was laid out in Acts 2:42 -”And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.“Basically saying that they are a church that studies the Word, fellowship together, have communion and pray together — very cool!
Well this past week Pastor Brian shared that the Lord had really convicted him about prayer and that in order to be an “Acts 2 Church” we first need to be an “Acts 1 Church.” Now I’m sure you’re wondering what that is? In Acts 1, just before Jesus ascended up into Heaven He told His chosen apostles in Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Then in verse 12-14 we see them gathering together in one accord to pray. Pastor Brian was completely open and humbled before the congregation sharing that we had never done this, that our church has never prayed to receive power to do the work that He has called us to here in Redding and in our surrounding areas, and that it was his fault that we hadn’t.
There is something so very cool about a pastor open up his heart before his congregation and admitting his faults and then being the one to initiate the change, and that’s what he did. So for the next couple of weeks we are having “No Church,” something we have never done. Sunday’s have always been a day of worshipping and studying the Word, but never has it been a time that we just gather and pray. It’s a bold move but we believe that God is going to show up and grant us power as the Holy Ghost comes upon our little fellowship!
Check back for updates on what God is doing in our “No Church” times. Oh, and don’t forget, if you want to hear the message from Pastor Brian about this, stop by the Lighthouse Redding website and give it a listen, you will be blessed, I promise!

I think that is seriously awesome. I agree most churches have not even asked for the power to be witnesses. I can’t wait to see what happens with you guys!
